Professor Beechy joined Schulich in 1971 after eleven years of teaching in the USA. Professor Beechy was a Schulich Associate Dean at Schulich for 12 years under four deans, Accounting Area Coordinator for 11 years, and BBA/iBBA Program Director for nine years. He holds a BA from George Washington University, an MBA from Northwestern University, and a doctoral degree from Washington University (St. Louis). He is a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois).
Professor Beechy authored the first Canadian textbooks on Advanced Accounting and Intermediate Accounting text (2 volumes). Both are now in their 7th editions. His accounting research articles have appeared primarily in The Accounting Review and in Accounting Perspectives. He has published two book-length empirical research studies, one supported and published by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) and the other by the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA).
Professor Beechy has been active in international accounting circles, including serving as a consultant to the Beijing National Accounting Institute on a recent World Bank-financed project. He is the Canadian author on a 3-volume multinational survey, TRANSACC: Transnational Accounting (London: The Macmillan Press).
