Currently ranked #4 on Amazon’s bestseller list for retirement planning, Chris Dumont (AMBA ’14) is showing millennials that it is possible to retire before the age of 65.

In his new book, Kicking Financial Ass, Dumont shares a blueprint to early retirement, with advice on how to pay off debt, navigate the stock market and real estate, negotiate big purchases and essentially, take control of your life.

What started out as a quick “how-to” guide for his family and friends eventually became a full-length book. “I just had so much more to say, and I found the books on the market lacking in some areas,” shared Dumont.

After graduating from Schulich, Dumont started working at ATB Financial and is now an Associate Director in their special loans department.

“I already had a Bachelor of Commerce degree coming into the MBA, so my focus was on developing my soft skills,” shared Dumont.

Dumont fully immersed himself in the school’s extracurricular activities. He was the VP of Marketing for the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Club, VP Finance for the Nonprofit Management Association, and competed in five different case competitions. “The highlight of my studies was competing in Dubai for the Hult Case Competition,” shared Dumont. “I am always applying what I learned from my negotiating and case presentation courses to the clients I am dealing with at my job.”

He believes it is valuable to continue learning and networking after you finish your MBA. “My book never would have done as well as it has if I didn’t utilize my network to help it succeed.”

The author is planning to release a few more books in the future. In the meantime, you can find his latest book, Kicking Financial Ass, at IndigoApple Books and Amazon.
