Sahana Vijayakumar

Schulich School of Business is proud to announce Sahana Vijayakumar (MBA Candidate ’25) has been selected as the 2023 recipient of the Goldberg Leadership Award of Excellence. Funding covers tuition and living expenses for one year, and is renewable, and will provide support of $40,000, annually.

Established by Schulich alumni Richard Goldberg (MBA ’86) and Yvonne Goldberg (MBA ’86) in 2016, the Goldberg Leadership Award of Excellence will support an incoming MBA student with their research, academic and creative pursuits, who has demonstrated academic excellence, outstanding leadership qualities, innovative thinking, and community involvement.

As a newcomer to Canada, Ms. Vijayakumar has faced challenges in pursuing her academic goals, “The Financial burden of tuition fees and living expenses has often felt immense,” Sahana Vijayakumar says, “But this award will allow me to purchase necessary textbooks and cover living expenses and tuition.”

Beyond the financial support of the award, Ms. Vijayakumar, recognizes the personal impact of this support, as her newborn baby will be 8-months old when she commences her studies in Fall 2023. She says, “The aid will greatly help me and my family in achieving my career goals.” Sahana continues, “I am incredibly grateful for this generosity and this support has made a significant impact in my life!”
