Women in Business 2018 Networking Event
On May 9th, 2018, more than 130 students, alumni, faculty and staff were welcomed by KPMG National Partner, Chair of the KPMG Foundation and member of the York University Board of Governors, Bobbi-Jean White, at the offices of KPMG. An annual networking event in collaboration with Schulich and KPMG, this evening showcased our accomplished female alumni leaders sharing their insights, wisdom, successes and how their Schulich experience has helped them with their careers.
Keynote speaker, Hana Zalzal, (MBA’92), Founder, CARGO Cosmetics shared her insights on the success of her company and how finding her purpose helped her pivot her career into a world of screen writing after selling CARGO. The dynamic alumni panel discussion moderated by alumna Ela Veresiu (iBBA ’09), Assistant Professor, Marketing, Schulich School of Business, featured Shereen Ladha (MBA ’15), Senior Strategist, McCann Canada and Owner/Director of YouTube channel ‘dancewithSL’, Ivana Lochhead (MBA ’17), Vice-President of Growth, Global Skills Hub and Partner, Feminuity, Anne Marie Maduri (MBA ’96), President, Maduri & Associates Inc., and Emilie Le Tual (IMBA’07), Change Management Lead, Global Finance Transformation, Scotiabank. Marcia Annisette, Associate Dean Students; Program Director, Master of Accounting; and Associate Professor, Accounting, Schulich School of Business delivered enthusiastic opening remarks that highlighted the value of female students at Schulich and closing remarks were delivered by Melissa Judd (MBA ’02), Assistant Dean, Students, Schulich School of Business.
Part of this exciting evening included the announcement of the KPMG Accounting Scholarship for graduate students and the KPMG Undergraduate Scholarships for undergraduate students. Congratulations to Schulich student Sharon Heu who was awarded the KPMG Undergraduate Scholarship.
