The Art of Schulich
At the Schulich School of Business, more than just pictures adorn the walls for students, faculty and staff to enjoy. Those who visit and study at Schulich’s downtown campus at King and Bay delight in new works of art every year, as part of the Art@Suite500 program launched more than two decades ago.
“Art@Suite 500 is an incredible program integrating selected artwork by York’s Fine Arts students into the Schulich School of Business downtown campus. The result is a welcoming place that offers students endless sources of inspiration and conversation,” said Judy Schulich, who sits on the selection jury.
Submitted works are selected each year by a jury, and remain exhibited for one year. The result is both a rotating and a permanent collection of art in a variety of mediums by graduates of the visual arts program. Each year, the jury also selects a Purchase Prize winner.
The jury consists of faculty from Schulich and the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design, as well as friends of the school like Judy Schulich, a curator of the art in the Seymour Schulich Building at the Keele Campus.
“The grad students were pleased and excited to meet the people who have made this event possible during the last 22 years,” said Michel Daigneault, Associate Professor, Department of Visual Art and Art History, School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design.
