Schulich’s New International Cohort Enjoy Inaugural New to Canada Welcome Festival
Schulich welcomed over 150 international graduate students, part of the largest cohort of international admissions to-date, at the New to Canada Welcome Festival this past week. A joint effort from the International Relations team at Schulich and the Graduate Business Council, the inaugural event saw students from across the globe gather at Schulich’s McEwen Courtyard for food, fun and community networking.
“We created the festival to give you a taste of Canada, and also give you the opportunity to meet one another and get comfortable in your new surroundings,” said Schulich Dean Detlev Zwick.
Added Dean Zwick: “I was also an international student so I know how overwhelming the arrival experience can be. Hopefully today’s festival will make that transition a little easier for all of you.”
Outdoor attractions at the New2Canada Festival included music, food trucks, and family-friendly games. Inside, students had the opportunity to connect with service providers, such as local banks, settlement services, and Service Canada.
Over 23 countries across four continents were represented at the New2Canada Festival. The diversity of the student body, combined with internationally diverse faculty and staff, are major factors that contribute to Schulich’s reputation as Canada’s Global Business School.
