Schulich Hosts 11th Annual Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair
The Schulich School of Business hosted the 11th annual Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair on Thursday, January 29, 2026, continuing a long tradition of connecting students with leading organizations across the sport, media and entertainment sectors.
Presented by Schulich Sports Business Association (SSBA), the Fair welcomed more than 150 undergrad and graduate students.
The Fair, founded in 2015 by Schulich Marketing Instructor Vijay Setlur, is the only career development event in Canada dedicated exclusively to careers in the business of sport, media and entertainment.
This year’s edition featured 32 organizations – a record for an in-person Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair. Organizations included Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE), Rogers Sports and Media, Live Nation Entertainment Canada, and NFL Canada, among others. The all-time high was 40 companies for the online 7th edition in 2022.
Over its 11 editions, the Fair has welcomed 104 organizations, including sport governing bodies, professional leagues and franchises, brands and sponsors, consulting agencies, media organizations, entertainment companies, music labels and film festivals.
“It was nice to interact with such eager students, and run into many familiar faces from the industry,” said Samir Bhatla of South Asians in Sports, a professionals organisation and one of nine that made its debut at the Fair in 2026. “I liked the setting and thought it was the perfect opportunity for students to maximize their time and have quick interactions with all the companies with the booth-style setup.”
Open to all undergraduate and graduate students, the Fair provides opportunities to explore careers across a range of functional areas with leading employers from the three sectors. Company representatives shared insights, answered questions, and promoted opportunities ranging from summer internships to entry-level roles to leadership development programs.
Positions spanned numerous business functions, including marketing, digital and social media, content and communications, sales and business development, event management, finance, accounting, analytics and strategy, operations, and human resources.
Prior to the Fair, SSBA hosted the Sports Media & Entertainment Career Fair Workshop on January 22, 2026, featuring Mark Gress Jr., Partner, Prodigy Search, one of North America’s leading executive search firms in the sport, media and entertainment sectors.
The online event aimed to help students prepare in advance, so they can optimzie their experience at the Fair.
During the workshop, students learned what to expect at the Fair, how to prepare effectively, what questions to ask employers, and how to follow up and network after the event. The session also offered insights into career development and job searching.
The 12th annual Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair will take place in January 2027.
It is ideal for students interested in pursuing or transitioning into careers in sport, media and entertainment, those exploring career options, and anyone curious to learn more about these industries.
