Schulich Team Wins First Place at National Investment Competition
BBA Students from the Schulich School of Business earned first place at the Association of Canadian Intercollegiate Investment Clubs (ACIIC) Fall Conference, held in Toronto in November 2025. The team took top honours with a comprehensive long pitch on TransMedics Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: TMDX), outperforming competing teams from across Canada.
ACIIC is a national network that brings together university investment clubs and top finance students from leading Canadian universities, including McGill, the University of Toronto, Queen’s, Western, Waterloo, Laurier, and others. ACIIC hosts two annual conferences each year: the Fall Stock Pitch Competition and the Winter Take-Private Competition, offering students a platform to demonstrate investment research, valuation, and presentation skills.
The winning Schulich team—Cristian Silva Cavalcante Junior, Yahya Ali, Joshua Levy, Hanguk Moon, Nicholas Sampson, Ibrahim Shad, and Derek Siiman—stood out for the strength of their analysis and investment thesis. In total, 10 teams from across Canada participated in this year’s competition.
“This win signifies the importance of due diligence, discipline, and relying on our peers, all values that Schulich has instilled in us from the first day,” said Cristian Silva Cavalcante Junior, Chapter Head of the Schulich ACIIC team.
The first-place finish highlights Schulich’s continued success on the national stage and reflects the depth of student talent and leadership within the School’s finance community.
