Schulich Grad Launches Travel Negotiation App
Schulich’s alumni, Anna Mosiyan (MBA ’17), is taking a new approach to booking accommodations. She recently launched Tbird – a mobile platform which allows travellers to negotiate rates with service providers for overnight stays, transportation, and tours.
She was inspired to create this platform after travelling to Europe and successfully negotiating a stay at a friend of a friend’s place.
Mosiyan teamed up with Julia Oniximova to launch this mobile app to help travellers stay on budget while travelling and help service providers earn extra cash when they are not being booked through popular services, like Uber or Airbnb.
“We negotiate in North America all the time when we buy a house or when we buy a car,” says Mosiyan. “It’s just not an official process – so we actually built the platform for it.”
Mosiyan was a finalist at Schulich StartUp Night 2018, a collaboration between Kinetic Commerce and Schulich School of Business. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without Schulich or Innovation York,” she says. “The fact I have such a strong support system here is so essential – that’s how you grow a startup.”
