Schulich Earns Global Recognition for MBA Entrepreneurship
The Schulich School of Business at York University has been recognized among the world’s leading business schools for entrepreneurship, ranking 41st globally in the 2026 PitchBook University Rankings.
This marks the second consecutive year Schulich has placed among the world’s Top 50 MBA programs for entrepreneurs. PitchBook’s annual rankings measure the success of universities and business schools in producing founders of venture capital-backed companies.
Schulich’s 2026 result is supported by 122 alumni founders representing 118 companies, which have collectively raised US$1.3 billion in venture capital funding. The number of venture-backed founders and the amount of capital raised by their companies are key factors in the ranking methodology.
Schulich placed 41st worldwide, with Harvard, Stanford and Wharton taking the top three positions. Schulich also ranked among the top 20 business schools at public universities globally.
“This ranking is a strong affirmation of Schulich’s ambition to be Canada’s startup school and a go-to hub for entrepreneurship education,” said Detlev Zwick, Dean of the Schulich School of Business. “Entrepreneurship is an important part of our vision for the School, and we remain focused on continuing to strengthen Schulich’s role as a catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship in Canada.”
York University and the Schulich School of Business were also recognized in PitchBook’s Undergraduate category for the second consecutive year. York moved up two positions to rank 98th globally, with Schulich alumni founders contributing significantly to the result.
The latest recognition reflects Schulich’s growing focus on entrepreneurship and its efforts to connect aspiring founders with the expertise, resources and networks needed to launch and scale new ventures.
“We’re building a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem at Schulich where students and alumni can turn ideas into ventures, and where founders can connect with the talent, expertise and capital they need to grow,” said Chris Carder, Executive Director of the Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Schulich and the Jay Smith and Laura Rapp Chair in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. “What makes the PitchBook ranking particularly meaningful is that it reflects the strength of that ecosystem and the increasingly important role Schulich is playing in connecting entrepreneurial talent with the resources and networks needed to build great companies.”
