Persistence and Purpose: How Kritagya Grover Secured a Role as Senior Associate with FinDev Canada
Kritagya Grover (MBA ‘25) recently accepted a full-time offer as Senior Associate at FinDev Canada (a subsidiary of Export Development Canada focused on development finance in emerging markets)—a role that aligns closely with his passion for ESG, impact investing, and emerging markets. But this achievement didn’t come easily. Over the course of several months, he submitted more than 100 applications, faced repeated rejections, and navigated a competitive landscape with only a handful of interviews—three, to be exact.
“After 100+ applications, countless rejections, and three real chances, I learned that all it takes is one right opportunity—and the preparation to seize it” Grover reflected.
Despite the challenges, Grover remained focused and intentional, leveraging every opportunity to grow and improve. He kept networking through coffee chats, alumni outreach, and industry events, while using every interaction as a learning opportunity.
Recognizing a strong fit between his past experience in Forensic Consulting and a role at Findev Canada, Grover reached out to the Centre for Career Design (CCD) to ensure his application stood out. He booked resume and cover letter review sessions through Handshake, where advisors helped him articulate his expertise in integrity due diligence, corporate investigations, and sustainable finance. Once he landed an interview, he returned to the CCD for mock interview sessions to sharpen his communication, storytelling, and alignment with the firm’s mission. He also tapped into CCD’s digital tool “Big Interview” to prepare for behavioral questions and refine his virtual presence.
Grover didn’t just want a job—he was seeking a role where he could make an impact. His final interviews with FinDev Canada were a culmination of months of strategic preparation, resilience, and growth.
“This structured preparation—from application to interview—helped me not only sharpen my communication but also reinforced my genuine passion for sustainable investing in high-risk, high-impact markets.”
