Outstanding EMBA Instructors Honoured with Graduate Teaching Awards
Three professors teaching in the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA Program were among the ten top-rated graduate program instructors at Schulich receiving the Seymour Schulich Teaching Excellence Award at the Graduate Business Council Gala this month. This student-driven award is adjudicated based on Seymour Schulich’s vision for teaching excellence, which includes knowledge, enthusiasm, exceptional communication, and teaching innovation.
Marketing Professor Ashley Konson, who teaches a course on “Designing Brand Experiences” in the KS EMBA was awarded first place, which comes with a $15,000 prize. The two other professors teaching in the EMBA program among the top ten were Graeme Deans (Mergers and Acquisitions Strategy) and Mike Valente (Responsible Business Leadership).
As Schulich Dean Detlev Zwick pointed out during the ceremony, “The awards are among the most prestigious at our School and this year’s nominees were selected by our students for the way their teaching inspired and motivated and for the passion and dedication they demonstrated in the classroom.”
The KS EMBA is a graduate degree awarded jointly by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Schulich School of Business at York University, with professors from both institutions teaching in equal proportions. The recognition received by the Schulich professors in this year’s graduate teaching excellence awards testifies to the quality of instructors in the KS EMBA program.
