From Preparation to Placement: How CCD Support Helped Alefiya Asghar Land an Internship at Restaurant Brands International
Alefiya Asghar (BBA ‘27), recently secured a Leadership Development Program Intern role at Restaurant Brands International, a milestone that reflects both her dedication and the strategic support she received from the Centre for Career Design (CCD).
Asghar discovered the opportunity through LinkedIn and began preparing well in advance of her application. Her engagement with the CCD started early, participating in mock interview sessions and attending networking events with leading organizations such as Procter & Gamble, Kraft Heinz, and TELUS. These experiences allowed her to practice articulating her story, build confidence, and gain insight into employer expectations.
A key moment in her preparation was working closely with Jessica Costa, CCD Corporate Relations Specialist, who guided her through the process and recommended booking an appointment with a CCD Career Design Advisor for a tailored mock interview session. Her appointment with Dali Cela, helped Asghar refine her responses, strengthen her communication skills, and approach interviews with greater confidence and clarity.
When invited to interview at RBI, Asghar approached the process strategically. She prepared for all three stages — HR, case interview, and senior executive interview — using CCD-provided practice questions alongside her own in-depth research into the company’s operations, strengths, and market positioning. For the case interview, she revisited key marketing and sales equations and strengthened her understanding of financial concepts to ensure she could perform under pressure.
From early exposure to recruiters to personalized interview preparation, the support she received helped her stand out in a competitive process. Her journey highlights how dedication and proactive engagement with CCD resources can translate into meaningful career outcomes.
