CI Financial Commits $150,000 to Support Future Leaders at Schulich School of Business
The Schulich School of Business has received a $150,000 commitment from CI Financial to establish the CI Financial Leadership Scholarship, supporting high-achieving incoming students pursuing studies at the intersection of business and technology.
Beginning in Fall 2026, the scholarship will annually provide five awards valued at $10,000 each to students enrolled in programs related to Technology, Finance, Business Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence at Schulich. Preference will be given to students from underserved communities, including those who identify as Black, female, or Indigenous, through York University’s existing Special Programs.
“We are grateful to CI Financial for their generous commitment to supporting the next generation of business leaders,” said Detlev Zwick, Dean of the Schulich School of Business. “The CI Financial Leadership Scholarship will help remove financial barriers for high-achieving students and advance Schulich’s mission to foster inclusive excellence at the intersection of business, technology, and innovation.”
CI Financial views the scholarship as part of a broader collaboration with Schulich focused on education, innovation, and talent development. In addition to financial support, the partnership includes opportunities for experiential learning such as internships, student consulting projects, participation in case competitions, and an annual panel and networking event connecting CI Financial leaders with the Schulich community.
“At CI Financial, we believe that investing in education is essential to developing the next generation of innovative and inclusive business leaders,” said Kambiz Vatan-Abadi, SVP and President, CI Direct Investing. “Through the CI Financial Leadership Scholarship and our broader collaboration with the Schulich School of Business, we are proud to support talented students, expand access to opportunity, and create meaningful pathways between academic learning and real-world experience.”
