BentallGreenOak establishes Real Estate Award for MREI Students
A new award is available for Master of Real Estate and Infrastructure students, thanks to the leadership of an alumnus and the generosity of the company he works for. The BentallGreenOak Future Leaders in Real Estate Award will recognize incoming MREI students based on academic excellence and financial need. As part of the company’s commitment to Diversity and Inclusion, BGO is encouraging students from underrepresented and marginalized communities to apply.
“A lot of our hires have been an extension of alumni and the school,” said Michael Fraidakis (MBA ‘03), Managing Director, Co-Head of Canadian Investments, BentallGreenOak. “In these challenging times we want to be able to provide financial support to young, enterprising students. We want to raise awareness and exposure to the real estate industry and the great careers you can build in this industry.”
Part of the award application requires students to submit a short essay that highlights one present day factor that the applicant believes will impact real estate in the decade ahead and explain why and what the industry can do today to prepare for the future.
“We want to encourage well-rounded, creative minds to the space by getting young people to think about where the value opportunities will reside in the years ahead,” said Fraidakis. “This award challenges applicants to think beyond the text book and that’s an important skill to develop.”
As one of the most diverse business schools in North America, Schulich has a long tradition of actively encouraging and supporting inclusivity and diversity. A domestic award recipient must demonstrate a combination of academic achievement (minimum GPA of 6.0) and financial need.
