Advancing A New Breed of Purpose – Driven Health Administrators
“Carry on bravely!” An adage often said by the late Dr. L. O. Bradley, a well-regarded leader in hospital administration and the healthcare industry, could very well be the rallying cry for Master of Health Industry Administration (MHIA) students and future healthcare leaders Hiba Mohiuddin (MHIA ‘24) and Diego Bernal (MHIA ‘24).
Hiba and Diego are the inaugural recipients of the Dr. L. O. Bradley Leadership Entrance Award, established by the Bradley Family in 2023 through a $250,000 gift to honour their father. Embodying the hallmarks of the award – outstanding leadership potential, innovative thinking and community involvement – Hiba and Diego are both determined to advance their careers while pursuing their passions. For them, the impact of the award goes beyond the monetary benefits. It motivates them to strive for excellence in their chosen fields and give back to the community as purpose-driven healthcare leaders and innovators.
For Diego, the award is a testament to the Bradley Family’s belief in people who are committed to working hard in championing the wellbeing of others. “I have worked in the Healthcare industry for the last five years at a Therapy Center for children aged 0 to 15. This is the industry I would love to focus on. After five years, I felt I needed to advance in my career. Thanks to this scholarship, I will be able to grow in my professional career and find a job in a company that matches my personal values.”
For Hiba, who is passionate about optimization and accessibility in healthcare, the award represents the belief and commitment to lifelong learning and the pursuit of excellence. “I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to be the first recipient of the Dr. L O Bradley Scholarship. It empowers me to carry on Dr. Bradley’s legacy to always aim higher and pursue my passions.”
