Bert Kohen received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Aegean University in Izmir, Turkey and completed his Master’s in Engineering at the University of Toronto before starting his career in industry. He obtained his MBA through part-time study, starting at York University and graduating from the University of Windsor. Bert was with ExxonMobil’s Canadian subsidiary Imperial Oil for 30 years where he served in many departments, including the Treasury. He has extensive corporate experience in financial analysis and control, capital budgeting, operations and facilities planning, and commercial credit risk management. Bert has been involved in the development of many large-scale projects and business restructurings, bringing a wealth of real-world experience to his classroom teachings.
Bert has been an instructor in Schulich School of Business’ undergraduate and MBA Finance programs where he has taught Corporate Finance on a part-time basis since 1999. In 2005 he took up teaching as a full-time career and expanded his teaching to International, Investment and Personal Finance in Schulich’s Toronto and India campuses. Bert is also an instructor at the Schulich Executive Education Centre. He develops and delivers customized finance and management accounting courses for SEEC and private clients, as well as doing consulting work. Besides English, Bert is fluent in French, Spanish and Turkish.
