Who Qualifies?

Advanced Standing (AS)

Candidates admitted to the MBA program who have a 4-year Honours undergraduate business degree (BComm or BBA) or equivalent and 2 years of full-time post-graduate work experience may be eligible for Advanced Standing (AS) in certain MBA 1 core courses.

Students may also be eligible for Advanced Standing if:

• they are Canadian Chartered Accountants (CPA, CA designation) who have obtained both their undergraduate honours degree and a CA designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants within the last ten years
• they are holders of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) designation
• they have completed a Schulich specialized masters degree

Each applicant’s case is considered individually. If approved by an admissions representative, the total number of required MBA courses may be reduced from 60.00 credit-hours to as few as 30.00 credit-hours. Any elective courses taken must not duplicate previous studies.

Waiver With Replacement (WWR)

Students who have completed some prior undergraduate business courses but who do not hold an undergraduate business degree may qualify to have some first year MBA core courses waived and have elective courses substituted in their place.

Accelerated Study

If you have received a BBA or BCom from a Canadian university (within ten years of graduation) and have 2 years post-degree work experience, you may qualify for the Accelerated MBA.

The Accelerated MBA reduces the total required MBA courses from 60.00 credit-hours to 30.00 credit-hours. This is the result of the awarding of advanced standing for all 5000 level core courses. The Accelerated option enables you to complete your MBA in as little as 8 months.

Note: Each applicant’s case is considered individually and advanced standing requests must be made at the time of admission to the MBA.

Program Length

Full-Time Study

• minimum of 8 months over 2 consecutive terms
• maximum of 16 months over 4 terms (using possibility of taking time off during studies), depending on advanced standing
