Meet the Team
Robert Hines, JD
Robert Hines has over 30 years of management experience in senior leadership roles in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, and has served on the boards of directors of a number of corporations.
He has held a number of senior leadership positions in investment banking, including: President and Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse Canada; Vice-Chairman of Investment Banking for Merrill Lynch Canada; and Managing Director of CIBC World Markets, working in Toronto and London.
He has also held a number of senior leadership roles in the executive search industry, including: Managing Partner Global Operations of Heidrick & Struggles at the firm’s head office in Chicago; Managing Partner Canada, Heidrick & Struggles; and Senior Advisor to the Board Services practice of Korn Ferry Canada.
He began his career practicing law with Aird & Berlis where he specialized in corporate finance and securities law.
Mr. Hines is Chair of the Independent Review Committee of Mackenzie Investments Mutual Funds. He is also a member of the International Advisory Council of the Schulich School of Business at York University and Executive Director of Schulich’s Career Development Centre.
Minoo Bhutani, MBA, ACC
Minoo has 18 years of experience, 12 in Banking and Accounting, including having worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, TD Securities and Scotia Capital in Canada, and a leading securities company in India. A CA finalist, he also has a BAS in Finance from York University, and an MBA in International Finance. Minoo is a Board member of the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce, as well as an Executive Board member and Treasurer of the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers (CACEE). Minoo was previously a member of Serve Canada, a youth development organization. He also has a certificate in Coaching, Business Career Counselling and Assessment and Behavioural Interview Skills.
Minoo is responsible for directing all internal aspects of the Career Development Centre and the Graduate & Internship recruiting process, ranging from student relations, counselling, workshops, events and clubs. He is involved on the external front with organizations and alumni in promoting the school.
Lyla Korhani, MBA, ACC
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, CORPORATE RELATIONS
Lyla oversees the Corporate Relations portfolio within the Schulich Career Development Centre. Her work consists of establishing new employer relations, and fostering and developing strong partnerships with corporate recruiters and alumni interested in hiring Schulich students across all programs. Lyla also represents the Executive Director in matters involving CDC Advisory Councils, nationally and globally, and external initiatives as assigned by the School - with the objective of branding Schulich talent to major stakeholders. Her past corporate experience includes working for leaders in the CPG/marketing industry (Nestle) and in publishing (Harlequin), developing branding strategies and executing marketing plans for their respective brands on a national level. Lyla is also an Accredited Certified Coach and a graduate of the Schulich MBA program (2001).
Phanindra Deonandan, MPA, ACC
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, CAREER COACHING
Phanindra has over 15 years of teaching, training and facilitation experience in Canada, Japan and the US. She holds a BA and B. Ed from the University of Toronto, a TESL Certificate from Humber College, and an MPA from Queen’s University. She was based in Miami for over four years as the Regional Education Manager responsible for training all staff in North America and the Caribbean region in airports, in-flight and cruise-lines for Clinique, Estee Lauder Companies. Prior to that, Phanindra supervised the student internship program for an international language school in Toronto, and she worked in Japan as an English instructor for five years.
Mark Freedman, MBA
MANAGER, CAREER ADVISING
Mark, a 2015 MBA alumni from Schulich with a focus on Consulting and Entrepreneurship, founded Chataway Sports, a company dedicated to helping athletes achieve new levels of excellence in sport. He holds a Bachelors of Biological and Computer Sciences from the University of Western Ontario. In his past, Mark worked with Accenture as a Consultant MBA Intern in Financial Services and as a Technical Specialist Business Intelligence for the Bank of Montreal.
Amir Khan, BA, ACC
Amir graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Amir entered the Retail Executive Program at Hudson's Bay Company and served as HR Manager for two years after working with HBC for several years on a part-time basis. He transitioned to the NFP sector as an Employment Advisor and Placement Specialist for JobSkills Canada.
Bonnie Wong, BCom, CHRL
CAREER ADVISOR (Technology & Operations)
Bonnie brings her marketing and recruitment experience to help students market their skills to potential employers, having worked at Desjardins Insurance, State Farm, Invesco Canada and a financial technology company. As a recruiting analyst at a Fortune 50 company, she launched the employer branding campaign and trained recruiters in US and Canada to source passive candidates. As a recruiter, she consulted hiring managers and developed the strategy to attract talent with diverse business experience.
Bonnie graduated from the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. She also attained her Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation. Bonnie provides advising to students seeking careers within the technology & operations function.
CAREER ADVISOR (Entrepreneurship)
Chris Carder is a Serial Entrepreneur with more than 20 years experience in the Digital/Technology Sector and a sought-after Startup Advisor, Investor and Advisory Board Member. He serves as the Entrepreneur in Residence with Schulich School of Business & organizes The Schulich Startup Night Competition. Chris is the past President & Co-Founder of ThinData (Canada's largest email marketing services provider) - acquired by TC Media (Transcontinental) in 2018. He serves as Chair of Kinetic Companies (holding interests in startups such as Kinetic Commerce, AdvisorStream, Wirkn, SkyMotion and Massive Damage). Chris is also a Coach with York University as part of the AccelerateUP and IgniteUP Programs. His Volunteer work in the Non-Profit Sector includes serving as Chairman of the International White Ribbon Campaign & he has been recognized as the Canadian New Media Awards Volunteer (and Employer) of the Year.
Diana Caradonna, BHRM
CAREER ADVISOR (Accounting)
Diana has over 12 years of experience working with Schulich students interested in Accounting and Finance. Diana works closely with a number of clients such as Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC and our industry partners to help our students discover career opportunities in the functional area of Accounting and Finance. She empowers students in their career journey to achieve success in their job search. As a former recruiter, she hired candidates in a variety of industries and levels. Diana is an Accredited Certified Coach and a graduate of York University's Bachelor of Human Resources Management (2013).
Elana Markus, BBA
CAREER ADVISOR (Marketing & Sales)
Elana has 10 years of experience - 6 years of Tier 1 Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Sales, Category Management and Brand Marketing experience from PepsiCo Canada and 4 years as a professional recruiter with Fish Recruit, collaborating with organizations in the CPG, Retail, Healthcare, and Business Enterprise sectors, to build high-performing teams through the hiring of top talent. Elana provides advising to students seeking careers within marketing and sales functions.
Mike Nadal, ACC

Mike brings over 14 years of experience in financial services, asset management and wealth management, having worked at AIM Trimark, ING Direct, and for the last six years as Vice President at Tricycle Asset Management and Patient Capital Management. Students will appreciate Mike's breadth and depth of experience.
Peggy Steele, BCom
CAREER ADVISOR (Consulting & Strategy)
Peggy joins the Career Development Centre at the Schulich School of Business with over 19 years of experience in consulting. During this time, Peggy has worked for global professional services firms Deloitte, American Management Systems, and CGI.
As a consultant, Peggy is experienced across a broad spectrum of service lines, including strategy and operations, human capital, and technology. Through her research, Peggy actively maintains a pulse on key industry developments (with a focus on the Strategy and Big Four firms), as well as on key consulting challenges and trends (e.g. strategic growth and innovation, digital strategy, digital technologies, and the future of work). She is also experienced in Public Sector consulting practice growth and operations, having developed and implemented strategies that have generated over $370M in contract wins.
Prior to joining Schulich, Peggy served as the Consulting Expert-in-Residence at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, supporting the Bachelor of Commerce and MBA programs.
Peggy is also the founder of Summit Proposal Group Inc., a research and advisory firm specializing in Canadian Public Sector market research and strategy, proposal consulting, and procurement advisory. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours (1999), from Queen’s University. Peggy provides advising to students seeking careers within consulting and strategy functions.
Edward Chan, MBA
OPERATIONS LEAD, BUSINESS PROCESS
Edward is a 2018 MBA Alumni from Schulich with a specialization focus on Information Systems and Operational Management. Prior to his MBA, he worked in operational management at Walmart Canada and Shoppers Drug Mart to perform change management to drive the organizational result. As Operational Lead, Edward handles the administration function of the Career Development Centre’s CRM while organizing the communications, short-term staffing resources, website support.
CAREER CENTRE ASSISTANT
Michelle’s professional experience spans over 10 years, providing administrative support and customer service while working in the health care, and travel and tourism industries. Michelle coordinated patient and client services with organizations such as The Hospital for Sick Children and Lester B. Pearson Airport. Additionally, Michelle obtained her Diploma from Seneca College in the Travel and Tourism Program.
As the first point of contact for the Schulich Career Development Centre, Michelle coordinates front line operations and provides excellent customer service to students, alumni, recruiters and guests. She further schedules career advising appointments for students, oversees the Centre’s primary student email account, and is involved with recruitment information sessions and events.
Rose Lucibello, BA
STUDENT EVENTS COORDINATOR
Rose graduated from York University with a BA in Sociology and Psychology. In addition to having several years of customer service experience in the retail industry, Rose has provided excellent service to York students working within the Faculty of Arts Advising Centre and the York University Career Centre. Rose coordinates internal events such as the Financial Services Luncheon, the Industry Advising Breakfast & Mixer Series, Career Workshops, and any additional CDC student networking events.
Sybil Massey, BA
OPERATIONS LEAD, BUSINESS PROCESS (On Maternity Leave)
* Sybil is currently on maternity leave until October 2019.
Sybil organizes communications, short-term staffing resources, website support and is the in-house system administrator for the Career Development Centre's CRM, CareerQuest. Sybil has extensive experience working within a career centre environment, having worked within the post-secondary education sector for the past 18 years. During that time, Sybil's involvement has included on-campus recruitment, career management systems, communications, project management and event planning. Additionally, Sybil is a York University graduate, having obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science.
Frank Paul, MBA
CORPORATE RELATIONS SPECIALIST
Frank works on the the Corporate Relations portfolio within the Schulich Career Development Centre. His work consists of establishing new employer relations, and fostering and developing strong partnerships with corporate recruiters and alumni interested in hiring Schulich students across all programs. Frank holds degrees in political science, Media, and Business from the University of Ottawa (B.Soc.Sc. ), Capilano University (BA), and Schulich School of Business (MBA'17). He has worked extensively in operations, financial planning and public policy for the Government of Canada, as well as in the film and television sector. During his time at Schulich he served as the president of the Graduate Business Council.
Victoria Cabral, BSc.
CORPORATE RELATIONS SPECIALIST
Prior to joining Schulich’s CDC Team, Vicky lead the Technology Consulting campus recruitment program at Accenture and more recently, supported RBC’s campus recruitment needs for their Functions, Insurance, and Capital Markets businesses.
As a Corporate Relations Specialist, Victoria is the point of contact for employers in the Financial Services industry and serves as a partner to support them with their recruitment needs.
Michelle Steiner, BA, B.Ed.
BUSINESS RELATIONS COORDINATOR: DIGITAL COMMUNCIATIONS AND CORPORATE EVENTS
Working alongside the Corporate Relations team, Michelle continues to develop strong rapport with major stakeholders throughout the university and with large corporations.
Responsible for the branding and communications of the Career Development Centre’s services, Michelle develops content and implements strategies to increase student and alumni engagement.
Michelle is also responsible for corporate recruiter events and maintains strong professional relationships with senior leadership professionals and alumni who have direct impact on student employment opportunities.
Michelle holds a Marketing Certificate from the Canadian Marketing Association specializing in Social Media, Content & Branding Communications. She also graduated from York University with a BA in Sociology and B.Ed. with a Fine Arts Specialization.
