“One of the main reasons why the IMBA was the right choice for me was the family atmosphere that is nurtured in the program. You become very close to your classmates and build memories that last a lifetime.”
- Learn more about the IMBA program
Explore, study and work abroad. There are not many programs that allow you experience all three while completing a graduate degree. I was also able to broaden my network that provided me with key contacts as I pursued an international career.
I was unsure about leaving my family in Vancouver. However very early on realized that the program fosters a close cohort becoming a family away from home.
The bond you get with your classmates early in the program make every day special. Your cohort becomes your family really quickly and not a week went by where we did not built lasting memories. I am still in close contact with them today.
Career specific knowledge I gained in the IMBA:
Aside from all the technical skills I gained during my time at Schulich (which I use everyday) the mindset developed throughout the program teaches you to think critically and solve issues in a diverse team environment.
One lesson I learned working internationally:
The best way to learn is to be open. Step back, observe your environment and adapt to the culture. The more you listen the quicker you will be able to gain the business acumen to succeed.
Beyond the classroom
During my IMBA at Schulich I …
- was a mentor in the Women in Leadership Club where graduate students mentored undergraduate students
- joined the executive committee for the Schulich Marketing Association
- completed an internship in Singapore at Italian luxury fashion brand Ermenegildo Zegna
- went on an international exchange to Milan, Italy
“With networking and the help of Schulich advisers I was able to land my dream international internship in Singapore.”
