Dean’s Research Impact Award for Lifetime Achievement
Christine Oliver (Professor of Organization Studies; Henry J. Knowles Chair in Organizational Strategy) was awarded the Dean’s Research Impact Award for Lifetime Achievement. The honour was given to her for her outstanding contributions to Schulich and York through research. Professor Oliver has led a long and distinguished career that has brought great distinction to Schulich, and the award recognized her integrity and ability to inspire alumni, faculty, staff, students, and research community.
Dean’s Research Impact Award for Emerging Leader
Charlene Zietsma ( Associate Professor and Ann Brown Chair of Organization Studies) was awarded the Dean’s Research Impact Award for Emerging Leader. Professor Zietsma was recognized for her research accomplishments, her commitment to fostering relationships in the research community and for advancing Schulich's international reputation for research excellence.
Prestigious Designation of University Professor
Eileen Fischer (Professor of Marketing, Anne & Max Tanenbaum Chair in Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise, and Director of Schulich’s PhD Program) received the prestigious designation of University Professor at the Fall MBA Convocation. The honour was given to her for her outstanding academic career and her service over many years at both Schulich and York as Chair of various academic and administrative committees. The citation read at the Convocation ceremony noted that Professor Fischer had “enhanced the professionalism and institutional capacity of the Schulich School of Business and the University” and had reached the highest echelons of academic success in two different fields of study – a rare and remarkable achievement.

Ela Veresiu (Assistant Professor of Marketing) was named by Marketing Magazine as one of Canada’s Top 30 Under 30 marketers – what the magazine describes as the “next wave of Canada’s marketing leaders”. Professor Veresiu’s research focuses on analyzing the political dynamics of markets and consumption
Named One Of World's Top 40 Under 40 B-School Academics
Murat Kristal (Associate Professor of Operations Management & Information Systems and Director of Schulich’s Master of Business Analytics Program) was named in 2016 as one of the world’s 40 Most Outstanding Business School Profs Under 40 by the management education website Poets & Quants, which recognizes “rising star” faculty members for excellence in teaching, curriculum development, research, and administrative leadership.
Honoured by Directors Guild of Canada with its Honorary Life Member Award
Trina McQueen (Adjunct Professor of Broadcast Management at Schulich) was honoured by Directors Guild of Canada with its Honorary Life Member Award in late October. The award recognizes her enormous impact on Canadian broadcast media and her role as a trailblazer in the industry. Trina is former head of CBC News, former President of CTV and is the founding President of the Discovery Channel. She has been inducted into the Canadian News Hall of Fame and the Canadian Broadcasters Hall of Fame and is an Offi cer of the Order of Canada.
